Periodontal disease, also known as periodontitis, is a chronic bacterial infection of the gums and teeth.
Recent research suggests that PD may have a systemic effect and increase the risk of cardiovascular disease, including coronary heart disease, heart attacks, vascular disease and stroke. PD can be prevented by regularly seeing your dentist.
